There are many different reasons why one would seek the help of a clinical psychologist. With family problems, stress, or job instability, one can experience personal crisis that may benefit from, or even require, the help of a professional.

Psychological Needs

The Centro also has English speaking psychologists who can assist you and have the enough experience and intercultural background to face the main problems foreigners have to deal with, such as homesickness, adjusting difficulties and emotional disorders. We also provide psychiatric services in case you have difficulties in finding a medical treatment with an English speaking psychiatrist. Most of our foreign clients are British, North-American (Canada and USA) citizens and other European people working in private companies and International Institutions. We have established agreements with some American (HTH) and European (Allianze World Wide Care) Insurance Companies. You could also ask your insurance company if they cover health adversities overseas.

Psychotherapy is the regular meeting with a trained professional and the goal is to help the patient or client feel better in a lasting way. It follows a especific methodology of work and its aim is to reduce the suffering of the client and increase his/her sense of well being, autonomy and self-confidence. The therapeutic process evolves in a special framework, in which privacy, confidenciality and no moral judgements are the rule.

A commitment to undertaking psychotherapeutic work should not be taken lightly, since while initial sessions will frequently bring about a sensation of relief, deeper changes in patterns of behaviour, cognitive styles, processing of emotions and personality traits require ongoing work.

In our “De interés” section you can find an English written paper, “What to expect from Psychodynamic Psychotherapy” where you can find a good description of our professional approach to psychological difficulties.
